Game Development and Simulation Programming Technology
Associate or Bachelor's in Science Degree

The program in Game Development and Simulation Programming Technology will prepare students for entry-level careers in video game programming and software engineering as well as for entry-level positions in a variety of digital, desktop production environments. This degree granting program combines the unique skills of multimedia designers and software engineering technicians in order to prepare students for the exciting field of video game development as well as for the simulation industry. Students will learn how to design video games for devices, such as GameBoy, Nintendo, Xbox, PSP, PlayStation, etc., and will be introduced to the video game development process.

The program will provide students with a solid understanding of the video game industry through courses from both the multimedia and the software engineering curriculums and from specific game development courses. An important component of the curriculum is building a portfolio that will include the games designed and developed by students.

Graduates of the Game Development and Simulation Programming Technology will be eligible for entry-level positions such as junior game designer, quality assurance engineer, and junior programmer. Students can earn their Associate's Degree in Game Development and Simulation Programming Technology in as little as 18 months, days or evenings. In addition, after completing certain prerequisites, graduates of this program are eligible to continue on for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.



Graphic, Multimedia and Web Design Technology
Associate in Science Degree

Multimedia and Web Design

Starting with the core skills of digital photography, design, and computer graphics, students receive hands-on, project-oriented instruction in web design, interactive multimedia, and desktop publishing. A wide variety of 2D and 3D animation software is also integrated into the program. Students also learn how to most effectively use digital audio and video clips for interactive multimedia presentations including DVD, and web delivery. After completing the first three core quarters of the combined track, students will choose to finish their last three quarters with a specialized track in either Multimedia or Web Design or Graphic Design.

Multimedia students will further their core curriculum with advanced interactive design, web audio & video, 3-D animation, and desktop publishing. Students will create projects on their own or in teams with each student assuming responsibility for the production process. Student projects will be deployed via CD-ROM, DVD, or web server. A digital portfolio of each student's projects will be accumulated throughout the entire program. Off-campus cooperative work experience may also be gained during the sixth quarter.

Students will graduate with an Associate in Science Degree in Graphic, Multimedia and Web Design with a concentration in Multimedia. Upon completion of the Associate in Science Degree in Graphic, Multimedia and Web Design, students in the Multimedia track will have the opportunity to matriculate to the Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Recording Arts (DRA).



Graphic Design

Those students who wish to concentrate on Graphic Design will be prepared for entry-level positions in a variety of digital desktop and print production environments. The program begins with the core skills of design theory, digital photography, and computer graphics. Students receive hands-on, project-oriented instruction in typography, graphic design, web design, desktop publishing, and pre-press technology. A wide variety of industry standard software will be used. Students will also learn how to effectively integrate graphic design for web delivery.

After completing the first three core quarters of the combined track, students will choose to finish their last three quarters with a specialized track in Graphic Design. Students create projects individually or in teams, with each student assuming responsibility for the production process. Student projects will be deployed via printed media, CD-ROM, or web server. A portfolio of each student's projects will be developed throughout the entire program. Off-campus cooperative work experience may also be obtained during the sixth quarter.

Students will graduate with an Associate in Science Degree in Graphic, Multimedia and Web Design with a concentration in Graphic Design.



Video and Audio Production Technology
Associate in Science Degree

Learn the art of video and audio production by the use of a project-oriented approach with an emphasis on program development and team building skills. Students are trained on analog and digital broadcast-quality equipment while acquiring both theoretical and practical knowledge in video and audio.

Learn Digital Filmmaking and Digital Editing in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our program includes two full-equipped broadcast quality television studios, two production control rooms featuring multi-format recording/playback (Beta SP, SVHS, Hi8, ¾ Umatic, Mini DV), fully integrated A/B roll editing systems, 24 digital non-linear editing booths with Final Cut Pro, three fully-equipped radio studios, and five audio production booths with ProTools HD1.

Upon completion of the Associate in Science Degree in Video and Audio Production Technology, students will be qualified to start their careers in the following industries: broadcast/non-broadcast television, radio and audio recording. Students are prepared for careers in video production which include: director, technical director, lighting director, camera operator, master control operator, videographer, video editor, producer and production assistant.

Opportunities in Audio and Radio Production include: recording technician, board director, editor, video and radio producer, copywriter and on-air talent.

Students can earn their Associate's Degree in Video and Audio Production in as little as 18 months, days or evenings. In addition, after completing certain prerequisites, graduates of this program are eligible to continue on for a Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Recording Arts or Business Management Technology.
